Gobble, gobble, gobble. It’s that time of year again! There has been a lot of talk over the last few months regarding the dreaded turkey neck and how to say goodbye to it for good. It is easy to get overwhelmed by the endless amount of non-invasive treatments on the market today. It’s always difficult making a decision to try a new product. The first questions that come to most of our minds when considering a treatment is does this treatment really work? Is it worth the investment? What are the risks?

One the latest treatments, Kybella is a non-surgical option for reducing a double chin has been receiving much due credit. This blog will educate you on all of these pivotal questions as well as give you some inside information on what to expect.

What is Kybella?

The double chin is notoriously known for being incredibly difficult to target and eliminate. However, Kybellaâ is the first injectable that effectively reduces submental fat. This treatment is designed for adults with moderate-to-severe fat below the chin, known as submental fat. This injectable solution helps us absorb fat and when is properly injected into the submental fat, it permanently destroys fat cells.

Why Kybella?

After Kybella, your double chin will greatly reduced and the result is a younger, sleeker, and firmer neck contour.

Kybella can:

  • Eliminate a double chin
  • Remove excess fat in the neck
  • Provide a sharper more defined jawline

Is Kybella Safe?

Kybella injections should only be performed by an extensively trained aesthetic injector who are well versed appropriate techniques and indications for this new procedure. Aponi Aesthetics takes pride in our staff’s extensive training. Our nurses and physician have all been fully trained on how to safely and effectively administer Kybella.

Does it Hurt?

A series of injections are performed in the central neck below the chin and above the Adam’s apple. The procedure is easily performed in the office after some topical numbing cream is applied to reduce discomfort. A series of treatments maybe necessary to achieve the desired outcome.

Are There Side Effects?

Kybella is the first injectable medication to be approved by the FDA for double chin treatment. A few temporary side effects associated with Kybella include bruising and tenderness in the injection area. However, other side effects like numbness and residual swelling can remain for up to 4 weeks’ post-treatment.

When are results noticed?

Most patients need at least a series of 2 treatments, possibly 3, to achieve desired results. Treatments are spaced out every 6 to 8 weeks and results begin to show after about 2-3 months. Continued improvement can be noticed up to 6 months.
